3 Stages of Cloud Evolution

Trajectory (Stage 1)

Hosting services have been around for quite some time now but its only recently, in the past 5 to 6 years, that virtualized hosting services have been taking a drastic innovative shift in the market. When we first looked at hosting services, 10 to 15 years ago, companies were looking for a secure way to storage their data in a secure building with full remote access. Today, we see service providers drastically challenging the idea with eagerness of a unique solution that will not only make sense for consumers as far of cost go but also impacting their customer productivity and bottom line.

Threats and Possibilities (Stage 2)

While analyzing the evolution in the market, we debated the possibility of companies not being ready to shift gears to a virtualized model. Service providers studied and improved security, reliability and many other threats to evolve the technology; however, we should be asking ourself, were we analyzing the right demand or the obvious excuse? Was that really the reason why companies were not fully utilizing the technology? Or was the technology not satisfying the customer's need? It is amazing to see how fast this technology is moving forward. Nonetheless, only the ones understanding its final destination will be fully able to capitalize on this unique opportunity.

New Opportunites (Stage 3)

Software as a Service (S.a.a.S) has been a key factor in this fast evolution. Service providers understand that it takes more than just a virtualized place to storage information to really capture the attention of today's demanding consumers. They have notice that to increase their value proposition they need to add a specific" flavor" to the service. These specifics "flavors" (software/applications) transform the entire way we look at the service today. We are talking about simplifying multiple business functions into different types and sizes of businesses. We are looking at an evolution that not only replaces unique functionalities with close alignment to key business processes, but also improve the easiness to adapt as the priorities of the customer change.

So the final question here is "are we there yet or there is something else waiting on the other side of the door?" What is going to happen with the fast evolution of Cloud? How will we be able to keep up with this unique innovative rhythm that is disrupting the way we look at the market? Is S.a.a.S. the final destination? One thing we already know for a fact is that for service providers the challenge is even greater. They must learn and understand whether this is or not the final stop. In my opinion, they should be able to adapt and shift gears along with the market requirements.

Voip has become the most poualpr medium of communication in the last few years. It is replacing the land line phone quickly and internet phone on mobile will bring a revolutionary change in mobile world also.
